I've been writing software professionally for over five years, working across the stack on product platforms, internal tools and customer projects. Before that I spent several years in IT support, which left me with a habit of automating anything I've done twice and a real appreciation for the people who use what I build.

I'm happy working on anything, but I'm at my best on the tooling and underlying tech that lets my teammates focus on building features. I'm most interested in developer tooling, platform engineering, systems design and automation.

What I do

• Full stack web applications

  TypeScript end to end with React, Node.js and Express on AWS, as well as C# with ASP.NET Core and Python with Django.

• Developer tooling and automation

  Tools, scripts and pipelines that remove repetitive work and keep teams consistent.

• Model-driven engineering

  Code generation and model transformation with the Eclipse Modeling Framework and Eclipse Epsilon.

Selected work

• Cloud-native payroll platform

  Building across a fully AWS-native payroll product in TypeScript, with React on the front end and Express and DynamoDB on the back end, with a focus on the tooling and foundations the rest of the team builds on.

• Core component of a software automation platform

  Designed and built a major Java component of a platform that automates software development, using EMF and Eclipse Epsilon, and made it run both locally and on the web.

• Tooling for 40+ developers

  Built internal tools used by every development team to automate workflows and keep projects consistent.

• Replacing spreadsheets with web apps

  Developed two Django applications for call centre and branch staff in a regulated financial services environment, replacing manual spreadsheet processes.

• Process automation

  Worked with business teams to automate repetitive tasks using robotic process automation and integrations with existing systems.

Open source

• vscode-epsilon

  Maintainer of a VS Code extension for the Eclipse Epsilon languages, with over two thousand installs.

• Eclipse Epsilon

  Contributor to the Eclipse Foundation's family of languages for working with models.
